Seasons changing also comes with ‘Ghost Nets’!

updates

Why is that when the seasons are changing, the number of ‘Ghost Nets’ increasing also comes with?

Usually, our experienced professional divers will notice gillnets, which are a type of fishing net that catch fish predominantly by snagging their gills! Naming fishing nets needn’t be politically correct, its purpose is to inevitably catch them for consumption, which means ending its life…no need to romanticise!

A ‘Ghost Net’ however, is what a fishing net can become when left to its own devices – as if ghosts were fishing with the net, it continues to catch anything and everything, and this includes coral reef too.

As soon as the net was found by one of our Downbelow’s professional dive Instructors, an experienced and elite team was organised to rally together in aid of protecting and preserving our marine environment. Both experienced Instructors, as high ranking as our resident Platinum PADI Course Director Richard Swann, to our international and local GoPRO interns still completing the professional diver training for their PADI Divemaster, were involved!

Amazing job to the crew and their captain for salvaging the most damaging marine debris culprit that may have ever existed – the coral reefs of TAR marine park are safe once more!
