updates

During Dive In Earthday in Monterey California Saturday April 18th organize by Modesto Dream Diver and Aquatic Dream Scuba Center.  A member (Michale Arnold) who is helping clean up on the pier spot a Cormorant that got tangled in fishing line, hook and sinker. Not swimming very well and still floating on the surface. My dive buddy Jake Galindo (a Jr certify diver) tried to catch him a fews time. At last … he swam by me, more like he is showing his trouble and needed help. I easily caught him. Two Kayakers, Marcia and Robert Elliott were closed by, watching Jack and I handling the Cormorant. I asked them for help ….. put the bird on Kayak. Marcia held the beak, I held his neck loosely, Jake hand knife to Robert. Robert managed to cut off fishing line. The whole ordeal took about 5-7 minutes. The line had wrap around so much. At last ….. he swam off, free of fishing line to live on another day.
