DIVE ARMY Dives Against Debris on Molasses Deep in Key Largo

updates

February 2, 2015 DIVE ARMY completed an AWARE Dive Against Debris. Thanks to Rainbow Reef Dive Center.  At 1230 pm 15 participants that included a PADI Course Director, 2 PADI Master Instructors, a bunch of MSDTs, Instructors and Dive Masters headed out to Molasses Reef to dive the Deep ledge to clean up the reef.  A lot of monofilament line, braided line, ropes, traps, and weights were found.  This is indicitive of a fishing community as one would expect to find in the keys.  What is sad to think is that in a single dive over 120 pounds of this type of debris was brought to the surface.  We as a community need to do a better job at preventing this rubish from going into our oceans. Special Thanks to DJ Wood and Rainbow Reef Dive Center for the use of their boat!  Billy, Chance, Chris, Corbin, Vlad, Ian, Lizzy, Pelle, Keith, Walter, Sarah, Erica, Jessamy Thank You for your help in Diving Agains Debris!
