Hin Wong 28/12/14

updates

Today was the second week of our Sunday Morning Hin Wong Beach Clean up. It was nice to see not just familier faces from last week but also some new awesome people come to help us out.

Altogether there were 14 of us and we spent nearly the whole day  sorting through the trash that washes up onto the beach at Hin Wong Bay. There were tourists as well as locals come to help.

Although we spent longer than last week and collected less trash, we were able to recycle about 60% of the 500kg we collected by maticulasly sorting everything we could.

This week there was less  styrafoam and fishing gear but more plastic bottles and plastic bags along with the same bits  and pieces as of last week.

Such a shame to see the beach back to being in such a state again but great to see so many people willing to help.

We were not able to get everything and already we can see more washing in! So same time next week we  will keep going until the beacch stays clear again.

Both times there have been children helping out. It's such good education for them to see what can happen to their disgarded waste and is an eye opener to anyone of any age to think twice before using a straw, eating from styrofoam or getting a plasic bag each time.

Thanks again to everyone who helped out :)
