Another marine life fatality due to irresponsibility!

updates

Irresponsibility is borne of many characteristics, and one is, being uninformed or lacking an education and awareness of negative actions.

Dumped illegal ‘ghost nets’ in out local area of Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park devastates the natural environment.

Another shocking find was discovered by a few members of our team of PADI Instructors at Gaya Island in Borneo – a juvenile green turtle dead and caught in the nets entanglement.

The net was an estimated 2-3m in width by 50m in length, and despite finding the perished juvenile marine life, our professional and dedicated divers managed to free a stonefish. There’s hope when saving underwater animals from a close death that they will survive, however there is very little chance that their life expectancy will be for much longer. This is because the physiological effect from their struggling to free themselves causes their chances of surviving the traumatic event to decrease.

Despite this, our team will continue our own cycle of contributing actively to marine preservation, because it will all make a difference in the long-term in slowing down the frighteningly exponentially-growing processes, such as marine debris, that cause sea and ocean populations to dwindle!
