Details:  Date: Tuesday, September 15th (bad weather date is Sept 16th) 1-5pm  Location: Rodanthe Emergency Ferry Docks  Carpool opportunities here: http://www.groupcarpool.com/t/d2s7m0) o Instructions: o If you are a driver and have room for passengers:  Please add your car and where you are leaving from.  Please put the time you plan to leave and time you plan to get back (in case you need to leave early) o If you are a passenger:  Please review cars available to make sure times are compatible  Click on the “join car” tab  The underwater cleanup will be held as a part of the NCMDS shoreline cleanup  Please familiarize yourself with the Project AWARE Dive Against Debris Program. o http://www.projectaware.org/project/dive-against-debris  A pizza party will follow the cleanup for all volunteers and is sponsored by the NOAA Marine Debris Program.  Project AWARE prizes will be awarded to BUDDY TEAMs of divers that: o Find the strangest underwater debris item o Collect the most underwater debris  Divers are responsible for bringing their own equipment including a tank (one tank dive), wetsuit for protection, a required floating dive flag per buddy team, safety sausage, dive knife or shears, dive light (backup light is also recommended).  Divers will be participating at their own risk!  No diving will be allowed on site as part of this cleanup without attending the safety briefing and signing waivers.  You must remain with your buddy at all times!!  If you do not have a buddy, we can help pair you up according to certification level.  All divers with a cert level under Advanced with current logged dives in NC will be paired with a Dive Master or Instructor. Diver Registration:  Please send an email to [email protected] with the following information: 1. What is your current level of scuba certification? 2. How many dives have you logged in the past year? 3. Have you participated in an underwater cleanup before, if so where? 4. Please also register for the NCMDS at http://www.ncmarinedebrissymposium.com/2015-symposium.html a. If you are only participating in the cleanup, please select “just day 2” on the form. Not a Diver, No worries:  Other volunteer opportunities are available for this cleanup event including: o Shoreline cleanup volunteers o Data recorders (using mobile technology to log and record data)  Donated prizes will also be given to shoreline volunteers and data collectors for several categories.  Don’t forget to register for day 2 at http://www.ncmarinedebrissymposium.com/2015-symposium.html
