Event Details:

We are looking forward to you joining us at our Dive Against Debris event on June 13th, 2015 in Newport Beach. Our registration and weigh-in area will be open from 8:30am-11:00am at Peninsula Park, which is located by the Balboa Pier on the Newport peninsula (100 Main St, Balboa Peninsula, Newport Beach, CA). You will dive and clean up under the Balboa Pier. This is a beach entry that can be very rough, so please keep this in mind.

Divers will sign in at the registration area. We encourage you to bring your own bags and any clean-up gear that you prefer, but we will have bags available.

After your dive, you will bring the debris that you collect back to the registration area where our team will sort, weigh (as appropriate), and log your debris. At that time, you will receive a wristband that entitles you to a t-shirt and lunch. T-shirts distribution and lunch will take place across the street at ExplorOcean (600 E. Bay Avenue, Newport Beach).  We recommend that you park at the Balboa Pier parking lot ($15 per day) http://www.newportbeachca.gov/index.aspx?page=468

From here you will be able to walk to all of the ExplorOcean World Ocean Day Expo events/locations.

If you require rental gear, please contact our partner for the event: Beach Cities Scuba http://www.beachcitiesscuba.com/. Ask for Chob and mention the event for a 50% discount.

If you are uncomfortable with- or unable to- dive under the Balboa pier, we are offering the option of conducting your own clean up! Do an underwater clean-up in an area in which you feel comfortable, log your clean-up on Project Aware, and when you come to World Ocean Day we will give you a shirt and lunch wristband. You MUST be pre-registered and log your clean-up in order to earn lunch and a shirt.

Please direct any questions to [email protected]

Thank you!

Wendy
