Speak Up for Sharks and Rays at DIVE 2014
When the Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre (NEC) will open its doors to welcome DIVE 2014 visitors on 25 and 26 October, scuba divers will have just a few days left to speak up for imperiled shark and ray species before their fate is debated at the 11th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species (CMS) to be held in Quito, Ecuador early November 2014.
Project AWARE is calling on all scuba divers and shark enthusiasts attending DIVE 2014 to add their voice to the Sharks and Rays Without Borders campaign urging CMS Delegates to collaborate for the conservation of 21 migratory shark and ray species.
Project AWARE staff will be on-hand in the PADI Village - stand PV17 - to answer any questions you may have about sharks and their conservation, to help you add your voice and send a letter to CMS Delegates, and share with you our latest news and activities.
"This year, DIVE 2014 visitors have a great opportunity to rally with scuba divers from around the world who are giving a voice to migratory sharks and rays" says Orsi Fulop, Project AWARE Outreach and Development coordinator. "Your voice and your action can greatly improve the outlook for 21 species of sharks and rays. Make your voice heard at DIVE 2014".
Amongst many DIVE 2014 activities you will be able to:
- Add your voice to the Sharks and Rays Without Borders campaign
- Attend a Project AWARE seminar about our latest Dive Against Debris specialty course - Saturday 25th October, from 2 to 2:30 pm - Concourse Suite 20
