Waxing hair and auctioning staff? Well it is for charity!
Blue Season Bali (BSB) has long supported Project AWARE. From implementing beach cleanups to running AWARE Specialty courses, the team has never hesitated when it comes to doing their bit for the environment.
But recently the BSB gang have upped the ante and in 2012 they will launch their new Eco Internship program and take eco diving to a whole new level.
"We've noticed over the years that there is a growing interest in diving conservation programs such as AWARE Courses, CoralWatch or even just heading down the beach to pick up rubbish: Eco diving is a growing focus for both divers and dive operators," says Robert Scales, Business Development Manager/PADI IDC Staff Instructor at Blue Season Bali.
"We want to give people an opportunity to contribute to various ongoing conservation efforts to ensure the sustainable future of our ocean planet. Our eco internship gives people an opportunity to take an active role by helping with local marine conservation projects," added Scales. "We created an eco internship program that can work in conjunction with Project AWARE's bigger conservation goals."
Over the past year, the Blue Season team has hosted several fundraisers and pushed the envelope to become a green business and active contributor to marine conservation. In November, Blue Season Bali divers were given the chance to wax, PADI IDC Staff Intern, Tom McKenzie, in what is undoubtedly one of the strangest and comical fundraising efforts ever conducted for Project AWARE. Wax strips were auctioned off and lucky bidders received the chance to remove Tom's hairy bits (except for above the neck and other such delicate areas). A big thank you to Tom and his hair for raising over $280.
Now the BSB staff are taking one for the team with the Great Subservient Action this Sunday 4th December. Five directors and senior staff members will auction themselves as slaves for the day and hope to raise some big donations for AWARE.
We can't wait to hear all about it and hope that whoever the lucky bidders are, they are gentle with you!
