Performance Diver Murrays Bay Clean Up 8th November 2014

updates

Today we at last managed to complete another Clean Up dive at Murrays Bay, after a few cancellations earlier in the year due to the weather.

With a sunny almost summers day today nearly 30 people joined in as we managed to remove approx 400 items weighting about 15kgs. It was disappointing to see so many used fireworks in the ocean, and all of the cans and bottles we continue to find each year. Woodstock bourbon drinkers in particular seem to be not so good at encouring their empty cans to find their way into a rubbish bin!!!!

Murrays Bay is usually overlooked as a dive site, as it is pretty shallow (max 5 meters ) and the visibilty can be badly effected by any rain or swell. But the divers came back today with big smiles as not only did they remove a lot of rubbish but some of the divers  were lucky enough to see seahorses, pipefish and eagle rays!

It was great to have a few families helping, and receive lots of encouragement and thanks from members of the local community.

Thanks again for everybody who came along today and made the day such a success.
