Nusa Lembongan Aquatic Alliance

updates

During our holiday to Nusa Lembongan we (Scuba Center Asia) discoverd that the little island offers a great and inspiring work towards marine research and education!

Aquatic Alliance is a marine research and education centre set up to collect data on the manta ray and mola mola populations around Nusa Penida. AA works with the Lembongan dive shops to gather information about these magnificent creatures and their critical habitats and observe their feeding/mating/migration habits while monitoring their behavior in order to educate the public, locals, and government about their value to the marine ecosystem and the tourism industry. Every Tuesday and Thursday night at 6.30pm they have lectures about different topics. These lectures provide an indepth and entertaining look at the strange and beautiful marine life around the three islands of Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Cenningan, and Nusa Penida. On the night we went the topic was about the Manta Rays and the new information found locally around Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida correlate with the rest of Indonesia.

We were very suprised but at the same time very proud that lots of Scuba divers around Asia and tourists were so eager to learn about the environment and these cool creatures. Also we think the different Scuba Center at Nusa Lembongan are a great example for the rest of Asia and the world to set up these kind of lectures in association with a non profit organization like Aquatic Alliance.
