National Estuaries Day Cleanup - September Action Month

updates

This was our second cleanup for September.

The pier has a small current but we managed to get out early and have a great event.  We had over 65 participants, 41 divers, 9 kayakers, St Pete Fire Department Divers (with van and boat), and almost 20 cleanup and data collector volunteers.

Want to thank the St Pete Fire Deprtment Dive Team for coming out with their boat, van, and divers.  They always support our events and they did a great job.

We collected 617 pounds of marine debris.  We also released a few animals that were in the fishing nets, to include a rather large stone crab.  The amount of fishing nets, cast nets, and hooks/lures were astounding.  Over 500 hooks and lures counted.

Thank you to all the volunteers!
