Dive for Debris Haad Rin with the Green Cross

updates

Another day, another clean up complete. This time Myself, Rachel and the divemaster trainees of Phangan International Diving School headed down to Haad Rin to join the Green Cross who had organised the dive for debris event to survey the artificial reef around Haad Rin in an effort to educate the local fisherman and show them the damage nets are causing.

Our team consisted of Myself, Rachel, Nico, Sole, Tobias and Laura. We did not head out to the artificial reef but instead took a boat ride over to the corner of the bay to pick up as much debris as we could. We split up into buddy teams each with a bag and a cutting tool and set to work removing nets, fishing line, bottles, plastic, clothing even an old tyre from the reef.

After the activities for the day we were invited back that evening for a meal and drinks to celebrate the achievement. We would like to thank everyone for their support from the green cross in making it happen and for sure we will always be avaliable to help out on the marine conservation projects.

Also a special thank you to all the volenteers from PIDS for your efforts, great work eco warriors lol.
