Ocean Awareness - A Lifelong Passion

updates

“Turn left at the rubber boot, and then kick until you see the tire. That’s where the dive begins,” explained a local diver to me and my buddy.  The year was 2009 and I was, at the time, a newly christened PADI Rescue Diver and looking to explore a new area with my buddy.

“Do they really give directions by the trash under water?” I asked in disbelief.

“Yes.” The local guide responded.

Every since descending on that dive I was impassioned to try and make a difference in the oceans I love.  Naples, Italy left me with many disturbing memories of the destruction that humans bring to the ocean world.  Rubbish would pile up on the beaches following a storm, and dive entry areas would be covered in bottles.

Now a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, I have come a long way in my ability to help the ocean, and my fellow divers.  I ask, are you ready to join up in the movement in our local Hawaiian waters?  Our ocean in the Pacific is very different than the ocean in the Mediterranean but these waters need our help just as much as they did in Italy.

Join me as I document our efforts to make divers “AWARE” of their environment, and spread education through action in our ocean world.
