Downbelow Celebrates World Environment Day with University Students in Borneo

updates

It was World Environment Day and we celebrated it with a group of fun-loving and nature-conscious students from a local university Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The group came with the objective of getting involved directly with cleaning the environment and at the same time, raise awareness and spread educational message to the world through social media.

The day was structured into three key sessions so after a welcome from Downbelow Managing Director and Platinum PADI Course Director Richard Swann everyone embarked on a Beach Clean-up, Ocean Snorkel Session & Coral Education Presentation.

The Downbelow team together with the enthusiastic students joined forces and cleaned the beaches to really make a difference.  The Downbelow team took all participants on a snorkel session to see & clean the coral reef. This is also to allow them to really appreciate the beauty of their local environment of Sabah Borneo.

Last but not least the DB team presented the AWARE Coral Reef Conservation presentation where everyone discussed the importance of reefs to our planet. Downbelow then showed their commitment by donating a sum of MYR1,500 to Project AWARE in conjunction with this special day.

We used the Project AWARE platform to raise awareness to the many of the challenges our ocean faces as education is the way forward and who better to share it with than these young students !

The Downbelow team had one of the most fun days & we can't wait to support this group again!
