World Oceans Day - 8th June

updates

Once again we teamed up with Sea Shepherd to tackle the plastic at Evans Bay for our monthly Beach & Underwater Clean Up.

2 teams of divers headed underwater while 20 vounteers tackled the beach and collected over a dozen rubbish bags - mostly small pieces of plastic including bottle tops, straws and lollipop sticks. They also recovered a frying pan, a football, a polystyrene crate and rope.

One team of divers collected over 100 aluminium cans in a small area of weed at 8m. They also picked up a few bottles, coffee cup lids, plastic cutlery and food wrappers.
The other team headed more to the east and found several plastic bags, items of clothing, a battery casing and a computer - not in working order!
