Dania Beach Ocean Debris Clean-Up a Success !!

updates
Team 'SOS' (Stoked on Salt) collected over 27 lbs of trash from the shoreline and underwater on Sunday, April 27, 2014 on Fort Lauderdale beach.    SOS Team consisted of 9 volunteers began by picking up trash on the shoreline close to the jetty. After 2 hours, and temperatures reaching almost 90 degrees, we all jumped in the ocean to cool off.  To our surprise,  we noticed all the trash that was on the ocean floor.   Feeling concerned, we put on our snorkel gear and continued the beach clean-up underwater.  Team SOS felt great to be part of the Project AWARE ocean debris clean-up,  but sadly continues to remain a large amount  trash needed to be collected at the John U Lloyd State Park.  Our goal is to gather more Stoked On Salt friends and return to the park to help clean up our beautiful ocean. It is our desire that  more people would think twice before throwing garbage and use a trash can.  Many people need a reminder that " laziness: can do to a lifetime of damage to underwater sea life.
