Perch Lake Dive Against Debris

updates

Four dive volunteers from Tortuga Diver Training removed and recorded debris from Perch Lake Santa RosaNM.

We collected around 100lb of debris in around an hour.

Some of the less common items we removed include a plastic kayak paddle, plastic cable spool, camera lens and an iphone case.

Most concerning was a discarded steel cable and rope - this poses an entanglement hazard for divers in low visibility as well as fishing lures (popular fishing site).   A big thanks to the crew that helped make the site a safer and cleaner place to dive.
