Dive Against Debris @ Lake Bracciano - September 15th, 2013

updates

Acquazzurra, a PADI 5 Star IDC Center in Rome, in cooperation with the municipality of Trevignano Romano and the beach resort Ultima Spiaggia, on September 15th organized a Dive Against Debris clean up day of the Bracciano Lake.

The event was a huge success: 42 people joined the event and 81,4 kg of marine debris have been successfully removed and disposed.

We split the participants in two groups: divers and non-divers. Divers were focusing on the underwater cleanup. Each team was composed by a few members, leaded by an Acquazzurra staff member. Non-divers were focusing on the beach cleanup.

We collected all the rubbish, then we weighted, sorted and recorded all the debris items according to the Project AWARE Marine Debris Identification Guide. Last but not least, we disposed the debris using the recycle bins provided for the event by the municipality of Trevignano Romano.

To reward ourself of the excellent results, we finished the day like the majority of the others Acquazzurra events, by eating lunch and partying altogether.

During the lunch every participant received a Dive Against Debris volunteer certificate as a recognition of their contribution.
