Downbelow team in Another Conservation Project in Borneo

updates

Barely a week after removing an illegally dumped fishing net near our PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre, the environment-loving heroes from Downbelow held another clean-up event.

Resident PADI Platinum Course Director Richard Swann together with his professional-level interns who are completing their PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) with Downbelow grouped together again and removed a series of small fishing nets that were found in one of the dive sites called "Ribbon Reef".

This dive site is within the protected area of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, Borneo close to our dive centre. Once one of our team spot a trecherous fishing net such as this, the team are quick to react and clear it up to support the local authorities in preserving the protection status of the park.

For our interns, they gained priceless experience and hopefully they will enjoy the satisfaction of giving something back to nature, we are sure they will be among the first to step forward next time - sadly there will be a next time !
