Effort to Regenerate Damaged Corals in Borneo

updates

We are very passionate about preserving the environment and promoting conservation as much as we can.

Among them is removing hundreds of nets that we found within the protected area of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, Borneo where our PADI 5-Star IDC dive centre is also located.

Recently however we began a different conservation program, whereby we construct an artificial reef and re-plant broken and damaged corals.

These corals are collected during the numerous net removal activities and also during our dives. Corals can be damaged either by fishing nets, divers or boat anchors. If they are collected fast enough, they have a chance to recover.

We have reclycled old and used water tanks which will become reef blocks to make a foundation for the new corals.

During this project, we also invited our local PADI Divemaster interns to be involved in every step of the way. They are taught the importance of corals to the environment, how to protect them and of course, how they can be saved.
