20kilos of Marine Debris collected in Lembeh Straits

updates

18OCT12: In Lembeh we have done another beach clean-up, this time in 30 minutes we collected 20 kilos of marine debris!  7 members of our resort team got together and collected 319 plastic bags; 280 food wrappers; 108 aqua cups and much more!

After the last beach clean yielded so many pieces of one type of rubbish, we allocated one person to collect one type of marine debris... One person collected only food wrappers, another collected plastic aqua cups, another plastic bottles and so on.  This made our counting and sorting process after the clean-up much easier!

Once again the majority of the marine debris found on our beach was plastic, either food or drinks containers.
