Doing our bit to clean-up Lembeh Straits

updates

14OCT12: Today we did a beach clean up, over 30mins we collected:

43.5kg of rubbish
1247 plastic bags
519 aqua cups
1195 food wrapper
(those were the most numerous by far!)

Most unusual item:  vacuum cleaner head!

6 of us cleaned up for 30 mins and then sorted, counted and weighed the rubbish, and the data was submited to Project Aware.

There was much more trash on the beach than normal. It seems that this perhaps came from a ferry passing through the Strait or it washed over from a village... There was no hevy rain the night before or strong wind to blow it over the strait!
