Saving a living fossil

updates

August 17th

This was a great day of diving, made even better by saving a living fossil! I dove with 3 other pros, and one found a horseshoe crab trapped in an old fishing net at the bottom of the ocean. We spent a few minutes cutting it out of the net entrapping it, and it scuttled off, grateful, I believe, into the depths.

We all felt we'd done such a good deed, and we were saddened to know that this happens all over the world -- fishermen drop their nets and thousands of sea creatures meet an untimely death. I hope we can progress as a people and work together towards conserving creatures, even if we don't understand them.
