It amazes me how excited people get about Shark Week.  I am a scuba instructor so being in the water and encountering sharks is a part of my life.  It excites me when people who aren't really aquaholics get stoked about Shark Week.  A lot  of their interest is just hype and show but this allows us the chance to share our awareness for our causes regarding sharks.  For one week people want to know more about these beautiful creatures.  However, Shark Week is not always positive.  A lot of the programs involve stories about encounters gone wrong.  This does not help our cause.  The more afraid people are of these creatures the more they will hesitate to protect them.  Let us hope that before the end of the week is over they show a program about conservation.
