Diving with the seals at Jervis Bay

updates

It might be cold this time of year but thats no good reason to stay out of the water. The SE coast of Australia has some amazing dive sites and this is the best time of year to visit them. There is quite a large seal colony this year of about 40 seals in total just outside Jervis Bay. Seeing them in the wild and diving with them is an unforgettable experience. We dived on nitrox 32 and collected some debris, fishing line, spears, and rope netting in the area where the seals live. There are also old bomb shells at the site because the armed forces used to use it for target practice. Species seen include old wives, sergeant baker, angel and damsel fish. I saw a small turtle which is unusual for the time of year. The high sheer cliff faces with caves and crevices also make some awesome dive sites and spectacular sight seeing. There are also dive shops at Ulladulla and Batemans Bay who report that with the new marine parks a lot of marine life is returning to the area. They all run boat trips which need a booking of four or more to run. I will be doing it again and again for sure!
