At Borneo Dream we like to support marine conservation of our local reefs near Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia. Whilst most of our dives are along healthy coral reefs, we do occasionally come across marine debris (like fishing nets) during a dive. When we do, we do our best to ensure it is removed, and the reef is cleaned up, so divers can continue to enjoy diving along it.

I went out scuba diving with our customers recently and (unfortunately) we came across a newly dropped fishing net along on one of our dives. Along with one of our PADI Instructors, I spent the dive releasing trapped fish, lobsters and crabs. We wanted to minimise the damage caused to the coral reef, and marine life, so the next day our team went out to remove the fishing net (and free more trapped marine life). Our team were joined in the morning dive by Sabah Parks (who look after Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park) who did their bit to help our team remove the fishing net.
