Project Aware Marine Debris with IDC candidates, students, fun dives and staff at Oceans 5, Gili Islands

updates

This time the Project Aware Marine Debris Clean Up was not on the usual wednesday. At that time, 6 candidates were sweating in a classroom for their Padi instructor exames. Oceans 5 dive resort rescheduled the clean up and did it a few days later.

The clean up started at 16.30. There was a briefing what people should take out of the water, how to behave in the water, and how he rubbish will be collected. The maximum time for the clean up dive was 1 hour and the place to be clean was the Harbor of Gili Air.

After 45 minutes the first buddy teams exit the water with bags of rubbish. At the end there was a lot of rubbish, like a lot of plastic, beer bottles, bags, cans, oil bottles, water bottles, plastic papers of candies etc....

Oceans 5 is pleaed that the reef in the front is a little bit cleaner, but still there is a lot of work to do. If you want to join the next clean up write us an email at [email protected]
