December 30, 2011 – Final Dive Against Debris for 2011

updates

The crew from Eco Koh Tao & Crystal Dive Resort took to the waters out the front of the dive shop today on our final Dive Against Debris for 2011.

After a windy few weeks the sun was out and the conditions very pleasant for an underwater clean up.

In the afternoon 15 divers headed out, some as far as 300-400 metres offshore, and some as little as 4 – 5 metres offshore to search for unwanted underwater debris.

Some of the more unusual finds were a small row boat, a pair of sunglasses and a mobile phone charger. It was a pleasant dive with not too much garbage brought up which is encouraging but it’s the awareness that we raised in another 15 divers that makes such a difference.

Thank you to all participants who took part and helped out to clean the underwater world of Koh Tao including Tami Komsii, Nik Williams, Greg Gannon, Mariam Yaghi, Elaine, Lyall, Elora Kooistra, Sid Kingma, Bridget Roulston, Asaf Harel, Mads Frese.
