September 17th 2011 - Beach Clean Up

updates

This was to be our fifth clean up event but it proved to be the first where weather was to play a huge part. On a grey, overcast, chilly but thankfully dry day a hardy group of volunteers arrived for the briefing at the dive centre. The sea resembled pea soup (visibility later confirmed as 25mm) so everyone was given the option of helping to clean the beach, however eighteen brave souls opted to litter collect in the water. Longest dive time was an impressive 30 minutes but most only managed about 10. Most interesting find of 2011 would be your dive buddy, very well done to those who found a coke can!!! Out of the water we regrouped and assisted the land effort by collecting 11 kilos from the beach in front of the Lifeboat Station. A huge thank you to all the diving and non diving volunteers who turned up and help us raise £170 for Project Aware and SelseyRNLI.
