Coral Reef Conservation for Groups

updates

Downbelow's group itineraries now include the Project AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Speciality.

We want to foster a responsibility for the environment with our groups, so that they can enjoy the ocean while being aware of what they can do to maintain and improve the environment.

The first group to benefit from this education is the the adventure group from Denmark that we had on the island recently.

Our resident PADI Course Director Richard Swann, took the reigns and conducted the session with the group.

They learned interesting facts and information about reefs, such as how they are formed and what threatens their health.

Our group also learned about Project AWARE's important role in ocean awareness and conservation and how they can contribute to the cause.

Never caught idle, our professional scuba interns Joe and Paul sat in on the course to gain experience for their own professional careers.

Following the presentation the interns pitched in to assist with logistics for a skin dive that we arranged for the group.

The skin dive augmented the Coral Reef Conservation information as they got to interact with the very environment they should protect.

The whole group gained the Project AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Speciality rating, which apart from being invaluable knowledge that we hope they will implement and share, will also help them when they pursue their Master Scuba Diver rating.
