MABUL MARINE WEEK 2011.....A JOB WELL DONE!

The 2011 Mabul Marine week was an amazing success thanks to all the foundations, departments, operators and community who took part. As you can see from these pictures, the week involved beach cleans, Project AWARE Dive Against Debris, building rubbish collection points, collecting petition signatures for AWAREthe opening of the Scuba Junkie sponsored Mabul Turtle Hatchery, Scuba Junkie S.E.A.S shark education and Sea Turtle presentation, waste management presentations for the local community by the WWF, the school of hope and Reef Check dives as well as much mach more. As this years Chair of event, Scuba Junkie would like to thank the District Officer Mr Ibnu, the Sabah Wildlife Dept, Johnny Chew the regional manager for PADI, JSK events, RTM film crew, the PGA, the Panglima of Mabul, the MDS and Marine Police, the WWF, The school of Hope, the Ambassador for 2011 Sarimah Ibrahim, all the dive operators of Mabul and the local community who came out in numbers to help. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEND A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL AT PROJECT AWARE FOR ALL THEIR ADVICE AND SUPPORT...THANKS AGAIN GUYS!

We have only just began and there is much still to do. We hope this can be a platform for year round efforts by all who call this unique area home to preserve it for future generations. Change will not come over night, but it has started. Thanks again to you all and to all who are doing their bit elsewhere in the world.
