Dive Against Debris, Saturday 11th June 2011, Shelley Beach

updates

After a doubtful forecast, Saturday turned out to be cold but with intermittent sunshine on Saturday 11th June for the inaugural Dive Against Debris. A group of PADI and Project AWARE staff gathered at Shelley Beach, Manly, where Tony Fontes, long time PADI Course Director and Project AWARE Governor, gave all participants a briefing, with input from Dave Roe, Marine Conservation Officer with Project AWARE and one of the creators of the programme. The divers and snorkellers entered the water and emerged after an hour or so with a collection of garbage, which was then carefully sorted before being entered on to the Data card.
