Kingston Waters Cleanup - Action & Awareness
Ends
The Marine Museum of the Great Lakes, in partnership with Neptune & Salacia Diving and Swim Drink Fish are proud to deliver a ‘Kingston Waters Cleanup - Action Awareness’ event (previously named PADI AWARE - Dive Against Debris® - Kingston) on Saturday June 10th, 2023 from 10am to 3pm at the Gord Downie Memorial Pier.
Now in its 4th year, this family-friendly event is an opportunity for the public to take action in the protection of our Great Lakes freshwater resource, to celebrate our waterways, and to engage with community organisations working to protect and advocate for the health and wellbeing of our local ecosystem.
At its core remains the community action underwater cleanup known as PADI AWARE - Dive Against Debris® that sees Kingston participate in an international initiative supporting water conservation iniatives. But, just because ‘dive’ is in the name, doesn’t mean this event is restricted to volunteer scuba divers.
From underwater ecosystems and maritime heritage to water pollution, this is a family-friendly event to celebrate our connections with the Great Lakes, the work being done to protect our waters and learn about how we can play our part in its protection. Demonstrations and performances are just of the engaging activities planned for this year’s event.
